CIA should have evidence in the case of Khashoggi

The murder of the Saudi government critic Jamal Khashoggi is said to have been personally commissioned by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. A Turkish newspaper reports on the exact wording.

According to a report in the Turkish newspaper "Hürriyet", the US secret service CIA has recorded a recording of the involvement of Saudi Arabian crown prince Mohammed bin Salman in the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. On the "Hürriyet" website, a prominent Turkish commentator is quoted as saying that CIA leader Gina Haspel signaled during her visit to Turkey last month that such a reception exists.

Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has demanded that all "really responsible people" be held accountable for the killing of Khashoggi. "Those responsible, those really responsible for this terrible killing must be held accountable," said Mogherini on Thursday at a press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu in Ankara.

Murdered in Istanbul in early October
Khashoggi disappeared on October 2 after entering the Saudi Arabian Consulate in Istanbul. Only after weeks of international pressure did the leadership in Riyadh concede that the anti-government journalist was killed by agents of the kingdom. Turkey has repeatedly demanded that the clients be held responsible for the killings, but so far has not directly accused the Crown Prince.
