Farewell To A "Great Patriot"

The body of the late ex-president George Bush has been laid out in the Capitol in Washington. Politicians praised him as a hero who made the world safer.

Members of the Senate and the House of Representatives of the late former US President George H. W. Bush gave a ceremony. For the White House, Vice President Mike Pence paid tribute to the merits of the 41st US President, who ruled from 1989 to 1993. "President Bush accompanied the collapse of the Soviet Union, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and under his leadership, America won the Cold War," Pence said. "When President George Herbert Walker left Bush, he left America and the world more peaceful, prosperous and secure."

The Republican Majority Leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, called Bush a "hero." Bush ruled the US with a steady hand. "Through the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union, he kept us on track." Speaker of the House Paul Ryan praised Bush as "a great patriot." Even US President Trump and his wife Melania came on Monday evening for a short visit to the US Capitol in Washington. The President saluted the coffin with his right hand. Then the presidential couple left the Capitol.

Bush's corpse had recently received military honors at the Capitol, the seat of the US Congress. After the ceremony with the deputies in the Capitol, citizens can say goodbye there until Wednesday, the 41st President of the United States, who ruled from 1989 to 1993.

Central funeral service will take place on Wednesday
US President Donald Trump declared Wednesday National Day of Mourning. On the same day, the central memorial service will be held at the National Cathedral in Washington, attended by Donald Trump and First Lady Melania. Chancellor Angela Merkel is also expected. Then Bush's body is to be brought back to Texas. He is to be buried on Thursday in College Station, Texas on the campus of A & M University, which houses his library and museum. Bush died Friday night at the age of 94 at his home in Houston.
