Ski jumper friend has to wait for comeback
For almost two years ex-ski jumping world champion Severin Freund is waiting for his comeback. Due to strong winds in Kuusamo, he must have more patience.
The comeback of former ski jumping world champion Severin Freund after nearly two years of injury break is delayed. The scheduled for Friday afternoon qualification for the World Cup in Kuusamo, Finland was canceled because of strong winds at the Rukatunturi ski jump. Previously, the provisional jump in the classification of the Nordic Combine had already been canceled.

The qualification for Freund (Rastbüchl), who belongs to the DSV team at the Arctic Circle after two cruciate ligament tears for the first time, as well as for the six other German Eagles to Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger (Ruhpolding) will now be rescheduled after a training jump on Saturday morning. The first of two competitions is scheduled for 16.30.
Heavy snow is expected
However, the weather in Kuusamo should not change fundamentally, for the night on Saturday also heavier snowfall is predicted. The Ruka Ski Center hosts competitions in all three Nordic disciplines on the weekend. While ski jumpers were already in action in Wisla, Poland, the week before, it is the world cup start for combiners and cross-country skiers.
